I’ll file my magnum opus on a date
that doesn’t ordinarily occur.
My deadline’s flexible to compensate
for disappearing acts. And to be sure,
these windows over Broadway open still
between Exchange and Beaver. Now a Bull
of Gold whose balls are photographed
by Chinese girls on holiday will pull
its horns to spike my copy. Jesus laughed
at killer headlines and the poison pill.
But that was yesterday. The 28th.
Today, I’m ready with a tour-de-force,
four columns and a hardy leap of faith.
My morning coat throws shadows on the bourse.
It billows on a marble windowsill.
