Aura Lifetime 2 finds its form in a cut-up re-assembled from “notebooks travelled in shopping bags as well as storage boxes.” Kurt Schwitters built out of quotidian refuse his house (Merzbau) and lived inside it, as neatly as autobiography in an archive. Thilleman drafts his poem from draff—all his life he has known this process to be filling in “the gap”—engaged, body and intellect, so that “this kind of emptying of all things as new things enter mak[ing] the diary into a day…But history.” Schwitters walked with visionary eyes to the ground, in search of the next bit of dross for Merz art. Thilleman aims “to release a stereothetics, or immersed ‘I’ within the ‘eye.’” The poet understands seeds can be above ground, in plain sight, as well as below; and that Wisdom sometimes overlooks creation. Schwitters’ dream of dwelling in perpetual re-creation was destroyed in one of the many Allied firebombings of Hannover. Thilleman, historically determined to be a poet present at the funeral of Capitalism, eulogizes:
