The Smartish Pace Reading Series continues this Friday night (Nov. 21) at 8:00 p.m. at the Speckled Bird Cafe. Local poet Evan Commander and Mississippi poet Murray Shugars will be reading from their work, along with musical interludes by John Nixon.

About the Poets:
Evan Commander runs the MOOR Poetry Series at the Meyers Gallery at the University of Cincinnati, where he is also the curator of all the DAAP galleries. Forklift, Ohio published his first chapbook, Planet Carpet. His second chapbook, A Thing and Its Ghost, was published by H_NGM_N Books.
Murray Shugars is an associate professor of English at Alcorn State University in southwest Mississippi. He lives in Vicksburg with his wife, Sandra, and daughters, Samantha and Miranda. He also serves in the Mississippi Army National Guard as an infantry company commander. His work will appear in the upcoming issue of Smartish Pace.
