Dos Madres is pleased to offer two papers recently presented by Dr. Henry Weinfield, eminent professor in the Program of Liberal Studies at the University of Notre Dame. The first was given as the keynote talk at a conference entitled “Double Exposures: Christopher Brennan, Stephane Mallarme and the French in Australian Litrerature” at the University of Sydney in Sydney Australia from July 13-15, 2007. The title of Dr. Weinfield’s paper: “THINKING OUT AFRESH THE WHOLE POETIC PROBLEM”: BRENNAN’S PRESCIENCE; MALLARME’S ACCOMPLISHMENT. His second presentation on the masterful Australian poet A.D. Hope, was given as a talk at the “A.D. Hope Centenary Conference” held at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia on July 17, 2007. The title of the paper: A.D. HOPE’S “DEATH OF THE BIRD”: BETWEEN ROMANTIC SYMBOL AND MODERNIST ANTI-SYMBOL.
