Ann Loveland, whose paintings appeared paired with Lianne Spidel’s poems in Pairings won the highest award given in a prestigious juried art exhibit called “Our Town” held in Birmingham, Michigan, “Gladioli” was selected for a Golden Award, for which the prize was $1000.  The judge was a curator at the Detroit Art Institute.

“Theories” and “Hibiscus,” also in Pairings, were honorees in other exhibits. “Theories” was the 2010 winner of a competition in Canton, Michigan, that prize leading to a one-artist exhibit in 2012. “Hibiscus” toured with the Michigan Water Color Association Traveling Show in 2011.  Another of Ann Loveland’s paintings, “Tea for Charlotte,” an award winner in the spring competition, is traveling in the current Michigan Water Color Society show.
